As part of a major world tour celebrating the release of his new album LIFELINES, Riga will host the only solo concert by the global pop-rock star Chris Norman.
On December 11, 2026, Riga will become part of music history for one unforgettable evening. On the stage of Xiaomi Arēna, a voice that carries the memory of an entire era will be heard. Chris Norman is a legend of the world stage and a true symbol of his time.
A major Chris Norman concert is not just a performance, but a living confession of the artist—a journey through threads of memories, love, and destiny woven into more than half a century of music. The premiere of the album LIFELINES and immortal hits will merge into a single tapestry of emotion, offering a rare opportunity to touch the music that has become part of the lives of millions around the world.
LIFELINES — A Musical Autobiography of a Legend
The new album LIFELINES, released in March 2026, marks a special and deeply personal milestone in Chris Norman’s career. It is a conceptual work conceived as a musical autobiography and an emotional journey through more than 50 years of the artist’s creative path.
Each song on the album represents an important chapter in the life of an outstanding musician. Together, they form an unbroken thread of memories, emotions, and numerous musical influences that have shaped Chris Norman over the decades. The opening track and first single, LIFELINES, symbolizes the beginning of this journey into the past.
“LIFELINES is a song about memories and experiences from my life and career, about moments that evoke those strong feelings that only music can create,” says Chris Norman.
His 75th anniversary became the perfect moment for the artist to pause and look back—at early childhood memories, conquered peaks in his musical career, fateful encounters, and deeply personal, touching moments. All of this is reflected in the album LIFELINES, which reveals not only the artist, but also the person behind the stage image.
“I chose special songs from different decades—compositions that were very important to me then and remain important today. I hope they will give the audience many warm memories,” Chris Norman adds.
Alongside these personal musical revelations, the album also includes legendary hits Midnight Lady and Mexican Girl, which have become an integral part of global music history. On the big stage in Riga, immortal classics will also be performed—Living Next Door to Alice, Needles and Pins, Oh Carol, I’ll Meet You at Midnight, Don’t Play Your Rock ’n’ Roll to Me, and many other world-famous songs.
A Legend of World Pop-Rock
Music fans around the globe hardly need an introduction to Chris Norman. It was his distinctive husky voice that led the band Kindness, on the advice of their managers, to be renamed Smokey. As the band members later explained, Chris’s “smoky” voice was associated with “smoke,” and the band eventually became known as Smokie.
Chris Norman (born Christopher Ward Norman) was born into a family of artists in Yorkshire, United Kingdom. His father—whose musical tastes were shaped by Elvis Presley, The Beatles, Bob Dylan, Little Richard, and The Rolling Stones—gave his son his first guitar when Chris was just seven years old.
In 1962, Chris Norman entered Bradford Boys’ School, where he met his future Smokie bandmates Alan Silson and Terry Uttley.
In the beginning, the band went through many different names—The Yen, Essence, Long Side Down, The Elizabethans. However, true creative success came with a fateful name: in 1975, the long-awaited debut album Pass It Around by Smokie was released, created in collaboration with renowned producers and songwriters of the time, Nicky Chinn and Mike Chapman.
The year 1978 marked the beginning of Smokie’s golden era. The album The Montreux Album was released; the critically acclaimed single Mexican Girl became a mega-hit; and the song Stumblin’ In by Chris Norman and Suzi Quatro entered the Top 10 of the U.S. Billboard chart. What followed was a year of dazzling fame, concert tours across all continents, and stadiums packed with devoted fans.
A Dazzling Solo Career
Although Chris Norman fully left Smokie in 1986 to pursue a solo career, his discography is impressive: more than 50 singles and over 30 released albums (9 with Smokie and 25 solo). More than 30 million records have been sold worldwide, and the artist continues to write music and perform concerts to this day.
After successful concerts with Suzi Quatro, Chris Norman collaborated with Dieter Bohlen—the founder, composer, and singer of Modern Talking, Blue System, and CC Catch.
With the song Midnight Lady, Chris Norman conquered the charts in many countries.
The musician lives on the Isle of Man in the Irish Sea and has been married to his wife Linda for more than 50 years. They have five children and four grandchildren. In interviews, Chris Norman has repeatedly highlighted the significance of his marriage. In 2001,the family suffered a major loss when his son Brian died in a motorcycle accident.
Norman continued his career in the years that followed and remains a regular guest on international
stages.
All the Hits and the Premiere of New Songs
The artist continues to tour actively worldwide, astonishing thousands of fans with his energy.
“Humor and exercise help me maintain my energy. Even though I really want to laze around sometimes, I make myself go to the gym and stay active,” Chris smiles, whose concert schedule is planned several years ahead.
The name Chris Norman is associated not only with energetic rock anthems, but also with lyrical songs. That is why the Riga concert promises to be both rock ’n’ roll-driven and deeply emotional.
A Chris Norman concert is more than just music—it is a meeting with an era. His songs are the soundtrack of life for many generations. The event on December 11th in Riga at Xiaomi Arēna will be a perfect opportunity to immerse yourself in a unique atmosphere and feel the live energy of one of the greatest stars of world rock music.
